Stanadyne India Quality Teams Win Four NIQR Six Sigma Competition Awards

Chennai, India – December 8, 2021 – Four quality and continuous improvement teams from Stanadyne’s Near East Business Unit located in Chennai, India have won National Institution for Quality and Reliability (NIQR) Six Sigma Competition awards. The Stanadyne teams received three Platinum Awards and one Gold Award during NIQR’s Award and Certification Ceremony for the Six Sigma Competition – 2021 held on November 27 at the Accord Metropolitan in Chennai.

Stanadyne’s Platinum Award-wining case studies were:

  • Reduction of Parallelism OHL Rejections in Mounting Flange
  • SCUP – Barrel Plunger Bore Perpendicularity Improvement
  • Reduction of Ø 31 OHL Rejections in Pilot Tube

The company’s “Elimination of Hot Start Issue in JD – 5686 Model” project earned a Gold Award.

The four award-winning teams are from the company’s Chennai-based manufacturing and engineering service center. Established in 2002, the Chennai operations encompass approximately 230,000 square feet (21,448 square meters) of manufacturing and engineering space producing rotary pump, mono-block pump, and injector fuel systems for diesel engines. It has a state-of-the-art machine shop capable of sub-micron machining. The location recently was recognized as one of The Economic Times Promising Plants 2021.

Stanadyne teams brought home three Six Sigma Competition – 2021 Platinum and one Gold award from this year’s NIQR Award and Certification Ceremony.

The NIQR Six Sigma Competition was virtually conducted November 19-20, 2021 as part of celebrating Quality Month. Approximately 44 teams from 18 manufacturing, automotive, process / chemical, information technology and other service companies presented quality improvement case studies that were evaluated on a 200-point scale across 10 criteria using the DMAIC/ TASK Management approach.
